It's all about the marketing

I am afraid the 1 p.m. naptime for Sawyer is a thing of the past. Truth is, he's just not ready to sleep at that time. Unfortunately, he's also not ready to lose his nap, as he can fill an entire vat with his whine. So right around 2 p.m., I tell him it's time to go to his room for "quiet time." He can bring any toy or books he wants to, much to his surprise. And the only rules are he has to be quiet and he can't get out of bed. We've done it all this week, and each time, he has eventually fallen asleep. The best part? Hearing him say "Mommy, I love quiet time!" several times a day. Am I a genius or what?

The parellels in our life are just amazing... I too came to the revelation (just today) that I have to make Greg's naptime later. It's the only way to get him to sleep. The bummer is now the kids will be sleeping at different times and that means less "mommy time" for me. Oh well!

You are, indeed, a genius. When we went through this with Megan I just kept moving it later. At one point it was at 4p, and I just let her stay up later at night. That didn't last long though - after a few times I just dropped it altogether (though she does still nap at preschool, go figure)

Yes, it does put a damper on Mommy time, that's for sure. But as long as he's in his room, then I can get stuff done (like surf the net!). But I am SO not ready for him to completely drop his nap yet!
